"Alice" a mixed media group show ![]() [painting by Jacquelyn Bond] In December, Vorpal Space will present "Alice" a group show featuring new works by Portland artists, including: Jacquelyn Bond, Matthew Clark, Lana Gurerra, Steve Lenz, London Lunoux, Troy McCray, Jonas Nash, Robert Pelicer, Petr Sorfa, Skye, and Alicia Wessler. The public opening and reception will be on First Thursday, December 6th from 6pm-10pm. "Alice" is a group showing featuring themes and characters from Lewis Carroll's books Alice in Wonderland, and Through the Looking Glass. It represents Vorpal Space's first deviation from nearly two years of solo shows. We are excited by the range and diversity of talent who will be participating and contributing their unique visualizations of Lewis Carroll's classic books. Featured artists include: Jacquelyn Bond. Ms. Bond's work is primarily watercolor, painting in a classic pinup style. Ms. Bond had a solo show at Vorpal Space in August of 2007. Mr Clark is a professional comic book artist and has worked on such titles as: Adventures of Superman, Teen Titans, Inhumans, Wonder Woman, Vampirella, Felon, Superman/Batman, and Outsiders. You can find Mr. Clark online at www.comicspace.com/matthewclark, and www.myspace.com/long_eyelashes. Lana Gurerra. Ms. Gurerra is a painter, as well as a hair and makeup artist. She also owns and curates Crude Things Gallery. More of her work can be seen at www.lanaland2.com and www.crudethings.com. Steve Lenz. Mr. Lenz is a photographer and has had two very successful solo shows at Vorpal Space, in April of 2006 and 2007. Ms. Lunoux is known for her modern pinup photography, including her extensive work for suicidegirls.com. She had a solo show at Vorpal Space in June of 2006. More of her work can be seen at www.lalunoux.com. Troy John McCray. Mr. McCray's dark and often disturbing digital photo manipulation was shown at Vorpal Space in June of 2007. More of his work can be seen at www.photomanipulator.com. Jonas Nash. Mr. Nash is a prolific Portland painter. His surreal paintings were previously featured at Vorpal Space in July of 2007. More of his work can be seen at www.jonasnash.com. Robert Pelicer. Mr. Pelicer is a recent arrival to Portland, but his demonstration of live painting have already become a regular occurrence at electronic music events. He had a solo show of his paintings at Vorpal Space in September of 2007. More of his work can be seen at www.robpea.com. Petr Sorfa. Mr. Sorfa is a photographer and illustrator, and his contribution to the Alice show promises to be a hybrid of these media. He had a solo show of his photography at Vorpal Space in May of 2007. More of his work can be seen at www.milkrobotics.com. Skye. Ms. Skye is becoming known in Portland for her short videos and guerrilla marketing campaign. She will be contributing a new short video to the Alice show. More of Skye can be seen at www.thisisskyeswebsite.com. Alisha Wessler. Ms. Wessler is a painter and illustrator new to the Portland area. She will be having a solo show at Vorpal Space in February of 2008.
